OIC Brighton welcomes Dr Dely Alonso as Head of Careers & University Guidance

Oxford International College Brighton is delighted to welcome Dr Dely Alonso as our Head of Careers and University Guidance!
An accomplished international education leader, Dr Alonso brings over twenty years of experience across schools, pathway colleges and universities in the UK, USA and Mexico. Throughout her distinguished career, she has held academic leadership positions within UK pathway education and has taught and consulted for a range of respected institutions, including the University of Brighton, the University of Warwick, the University of Sussex, the British Council, International House and Universidad Iberoamericana.
Supporting Students to Achieve Their Ambitions
Dr Alonso has dedicated her career to helping students develop the academic, personal and transferable skills that enable them to succeed in higher education and beyond. Her extensive experience in student progression and educational transitions has seen her support learners at every stage of their academic journey, empowering them to achieve their ambitions with confidence.
Her expertise spans curriculum development, student experience and wellbeing, as well as personalised academic guidance. Through this work, she has helped countless students prepare for university life, navigate important educational milestones and thrive in internationally minded learning environments. In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Dr Alonso is also the author of language-learning textbooks and educational resources used internationally.
A Student-Centred Approach to University Guidance
Speaking about her educational philosophy, Dr Alonso emphasises the importance of understanding each student as an individual. She believes that exceptional university guidance begins with recognising a student's unique strengths, aspirations and potential. By helping young people build confidence and make informed decisions about their futures, she aims to ensure they are not only successful in securing places at leading universities but are also well equipped to flourish throughout their education and future careers.
