OIC BRIGHTON'S PRE-GCSE PROGRAMME
Oxford International College (OIC) Brighton’s Pre-GCSE curriculum prepares our Year 9 students for success at GCSE level – and beyond. Specialist teachers will develop your knowledge and skills across the curriculum, while our ground-breaking Super curricular programme unlocks exciting possibilities outside of classes.
OUR PRE-GCSE PROGRAMME
At OIC Brighton, we offer a Pre-GCSE curriculum for students joining us in Year 9. Innovative, challenging, and creative, our approach combines the highest standards of subject teaching with exceptional wellbeing support. This develops the knowledge and attributes you’ll need to progress to GCSE level. It will also help you to refine valuable skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.
AN ACADEMICALLY RIGOROUS APPROACH
All OIC Brighton Pre-GCSE students take mandatory classes in the core subjects (Maths, English Language, English Literature, and Sciences), Humanities (History and Geography), Arts (Art, Drama, and Music), and Languages (Mandarin and/or Russian). Pre-GCSE Maths and English are grouped by ability, and Sciences are taught separately (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
To ensure you’re on the right track, you’ll sit monthly Strategic Cumulative Informative Tests (SCITS), as well as mid- and end-of-term assessments. The results give our teachers a snapshot of how you’re progressing, as well as any areas for improvement. Our students receive feedback a week after each assessment, and we send out reports every month.
