Sports Day 2026 Brings Records, Resilience and House Pride to Withdean Stadium

Sports Day 2026 Brings Records, Resilience and House Pride to Withdean Stadium | OIC Brighton - Sports Day 2026

A Day of Competition and Community

Students and staff came together at Withdean Stadium for one of the most anticipated events in the OIC Brighton calendar, Sports Day 2026.

Representing Anderson, Cori, Jex-Blake and Thant, students competed across a wide range of track and field events, earning valuable points for their houses while demonstrating determination, sportsmanship and house pride. From the opening events to the final presentations, the atmosphere was electric, with supporters filling the stands and cheering on every competitor.

Breaking Records in Challenging Conditions

Despite exceptionally hot weather throughout the day, students delivered a series of outstanding performances across the athletics programme. Numerous college records were broken, showcasing the talent, commitment and competitive spirit of this year's athletes.

Whether sprinting down the track, aiming for a personal best in the field events or stepping up to compete for their house, students rose to the challenge and delivered memorable performances from start to finish.

Every Point Counts

The competition began before Sports Day itself, with students earning valuable points for their houses through the 1500m challenge and the always-popular Tug of War competition. These events helped build excitement and set the stage for a closely fought battle between the four houses.

This year's message captured the spirit of the day perfectly: "Every point counts. Every person matters. Every effort adds up." Students of all abilities contributed to their house's success, proving that participation, perseverance and teamwork are just as important as finishing first.

Staff join the Action

One of the biggest highlights of the afternoon was the much-anticipated staff relay race. Staff members swapped classrooms for the running track and competed in front of an enthusiastic crowd, providing plenty of entertainment and adding to the festival atmosphere of the event.

Their energy and willingness to get involved perfectly reflected the sense of community that makes Sports Day such a special occasion at OIC Brighton.

Celebrating Success

The day concluded with the presentation of medals, house points and overall awards, recognising the achievements of students throughout the competition.

More importantly, Sports Day celebrated the qualities that extend far beyond athletics: resilience, courage, teamwork and determination. From record-breaking performances and personal achievements to encouraging teammates and showing house pride, students demonstrated what it means to be part of the OIC Brighton community.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and a special thank you to the staff who helped organise and run the event. Sports Day 2026 will be remembered for its incredible atmosphere, outstanding performances and the remarkable achievements of our students in challenging conditions.
