Summer Concert 2026 Brings Music, Laughter and World Cup Spirit to OIC Brighton

Our Summer Concert 2026 was a wonderful celebration of creativity, confidence and community, showcasing the incredible talents of students and staff across OIC Brighton. 

With the world currently gripped by football fever, it felt fitting that this year's Science Team entry was soundtracked to Shakira’s Waka Waka, the iconic World Cup anthem from 2010. The song perfectly captured the energy, enthusiasm and sense of togetherness that filled the auditorium throughout the evening. 

The programme featured an impressive variety of performances, reflecting the diverse interests and talents within our college community. Audiences enjoyed everything from stand-up comedy and acoustic guitar performances to piano recitals, cultural singing and powerful performances from the OIC Choir. Our Wind Orchestra also delivered a fantastic set, demonstrating the dedication and musical excellence of our student musicians. 

The concert offered something for everyone, with students taking to the stage to share their passions, develop their confidence and celebrate months of hard work and preparation. A selection of ABBA classics had the audience singing along, while individual and group performances highlighted the breadth of talent that exists beyond the classroom at OIC Brighton. 

One of the standout moments of the evening came courtesy of our very own Science Team, whose energetic and entertaining performance of Waka Waka brought the concert to a memorable close. Their enthusiasm quickly spread through the audience, creating a fitting finale to a joyful event. 

Events such as the Summer Concert play an important role in college life, providing students with opportunities to express themselves, support one another and build lasting memories alongside their academic studies. 

A huge congratulations to all performers, organisers and staff who helped make the evening such a success. We are already looking forward to seeing what next year's concert will bring.
