A Creative Journey at the NAE Performing Arts Festival in Prague

A Creative Journey at the NAE Performing Arts Festival in Prague | OIC Brighton - A Creative Journey at the NAE Performing Arts Festival in Prague

Our students have now returned from an unforgettable weekend in Prague, where they took part in the Nord Anglia Education Performing Arts Festival hosted by the Prague British International School.

Leah, Ryan, and Khaya joined peers from across NAE schools (Prague, Budapest, Madrid and Barcelona) for a vibrant celebration of creativity, collaboration and performance. From the moment they arrived, they were immersed in an inspiring international environment, working alongside fellow students who share a passion for the performing arts.

Across the weekend, students participated in a series of professionally led workshops focused on theatre practice. These sessions offered a balance of individual skill development and ensemble-based exploration, allowing students to refine their techniques while learning how to collaborate effectively as part of a cast. Guided by experienced practitioners, they challenged themselves creatively, explored new approaches to performance, and expanded their artistic repertoire.

A highlight of the festival was the final showcase on Sunday, where students brought together everything they had learned. Performing as part of a wider ensemble, they demonstrated not only their technical progress but also their confidence, creativity and ability to work cohesively with others. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their efforts and share their achievements in front of an appreciative audience.

Beyond the workshops and performances, students also had the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Prague and Prague Fringe Festival. As part of a city treasure hunt, they visited some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock, Old Town Square, Vyšehrad and the Jewish Quarter. This added a sense of adventure to the trip and allowed students to experience the city’s history and atmosphere first-hand.

The festival proved to be far more than a performance opportunity. It encouraged creative risk-taking, imaginative thinking and meaningful artistic growth, all within a supportive and collaborative international community. Just as importantly, it gave students the chance to build friendships, gain confidence and create lasting memories.

It was a truly enriching experience for all involved, and one that will continue to inspire our students as they develop their skills and passion for the performing arts.
