On Tuesday, the IGCSE English Literature Year 11 group and a student from Drama took a trip to Wimbledon, South London to see Revision On Tour’s production of Macbeth. As the name suggests, this production is tailor-made for students, and is perfect to support exam-year study of this key, classic text.
This production lays bare the timeless tale of ambition, chaos and the darkness lurking within us all! Macbeth, encouraged by a prophecy from three mysterious witches and fuelled by the ambitions of his power-hungry wife Lady Macbeth, is consumed by a desire to seize the throne. As he succumbs to his dark ambitions, Macbeth soon must face the harrowing consequences of his actions.
Students were able to watch the play, discuss the production, and have some time to explore the high street of Wimbledon. Taking time away from the usual routine is a welcome break, and it is these experiences that often stand out in memory as the real growth moments at school. We are looking forward to exploring student interpretation and memories of the play as we get closer to the final exam!
