Sussex Schools Cross Country Championships

This invitation‑only event featured more than 50 schools and some of the strongest young athletes in the county—making OICB’s presence a significant achievement and a testament to the school’s growing strength in athletics.

OICB fielded a full team across all age groups: Alex K (Inter Girls), Jason L (Inter Boys), Sophia S (Senior Girls) and Andrey M (Senior Boys). Alex and Jason brought valuable experience from previous competitions and approached the challenging courses with confidence.

Alex delivered an excellent run in the Inter Girls race, finishing in the top half of a highly competitive field with a time of 18:59 over 3.5km. Jason matched this success in the Inter Boys event, completing the demanding 4.8km course in 23:34 among more than 250 runners.

In the Senior categories, Sophia produced a determined performance to place 31st out of 38, while Andrey showed strong resilience against a field dominated by experienced club athletes.

This historic debut at the Sussex Championships is a tremendous accomplishment, and all four athletes should be extremely proud of their performances on such a prestigious stage.
