The U16s made college history last week as they stepped onto the pitch for the first time in the prestigious Heads of Society Cup. Wearing the new OICB kit, they welcomed Bedales, who travelled over an hour and a half for the fixture.
The match began brightly, with good energy and organisation, but an early defensive lapse allowed the visitors to take the lead. The team responded well, growing in confidence as the half went on. Goalkeeper Michael stood out with several excellent saves to keep the game within reach.
Bedales proved a strong and physical side, using their experience to make the most of their chances and ultimately securing an 8-0 win.
In the second half, the U16s created more attacking opportunities and showed greater composure, though they couldn’t quite find a breakthrough.
There were many positives to take from this landmark match, particularly the team’s resilience and improving defensive organisation. The group will now focus on building communication and physical presence to gain more control in future games.
Well done to the entire squad for representing the college with pride in this historic debut.
