We are proud to celebrate the success of four students, Koey, Guoer, Ata and Hermes, who have completed their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award!
To achieve this prestigious award, students committed to challenges in volunteering, physical activity, developing a skill, and completing an expedition. These experiences build resilience, teamwork, and independence skills that last a lifetime.
Koey shared her advice for anyone considering the award:
"I’d say it’s really worth doing – I learnt new tastes and different ways of working. You usually would just use online maps and buy food from a shop, but this made you learn how to navigate with no GPS and how to transport your food to then cook on a stove. I enjoyed my expedition nearby, where we had to read maps and follow different footpaths around mountains. At first I was confused about how to navigate, but the award helped me learn about contour lines and how the geography of the mountains is shown on a map."
