On Tuesday, 1st April, we made the journey to Roedean for a thrilling doubles badminton competition. This was no ordinary match — it was a historic occasion, marking the first time boys had been allowed to compete alongside the talented Roedean girls.
From the very first serve, the atmosphere was electric, with both teams embracing the competitive yet friendly spirit of the event. Four doubles pairs from OICB and Roedean faced off against each other in a series of exciting matches that showcased skill, determination and sportsmanship.

Roedean proved to be formidable opponents, boasting some outstanding players, but our top pairs stepped up to the challenge, pushing their rivals in several tightly-contested games.
While Roedean ultimately claimed overall victory, OICB secured some well-earned wins along the way, demonstrating great resilience and teamwork.
A special mention must go to the OICB players who were making their competitive debut for the college. Though some began the day with nerves, their confidence grew with every match and, by the end of the tournament, they had proven themselves as valuable members of the squad.
Congratulations to the whole team — Hedy, Maria, Joy, Susie, Eva, Golie, Andy and Max—for their fantastic performances. Regardless of the final score, they should all be incredibly proud of their efforts on this historic day for OIC Brighton badminton!
