Xing Lou

Mandarin Teacher
OIC Brighton

Xing grew up in China and, from a young age, knew that she wanted to become a teacher. When she began learning English in secondary school and discovered the meaning of being “international”, this aspiration grew even stronger, and she developed a dream of teaching abroad.

In 2012, Xing graduated from Shaanxi Normal University with a BA (Hons) in Chinese Literature and began her career as a Teacher of Chinese Literature in a national high school. In 2019, she came to the UK through the Confucius Institute as a Teacher of Mandarin. She taught in a London school for two years before joining Charterhouse, marking the beginning of her international school career. In 2023, she was delighted to continue this journey by joining Oxford International College Brighton.

Throughout her career, Xing has taught GCSE, A Level and IB Diploma Programme students across a wide range of abilities. She is passionate about helping students develop their language skills and takes great pleasure in supporting their understanding of Chinese culture alongside their linguistic development. She values the process of inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and seeing students experience the joy of learning a new language.

To further enhance her expertise and contribute even more to her students and the wider school community, Xing recently began studying for an MA in International Education at King’s College London. Through her studies, she hopes to deepen her understanding of global education and bring additional value to both her students and the school as a whole.
