Phil Clare

Head of PSHE
OIC Brighton

Phil is an experienced pastoral leader and educator, with a career spanning several prestigious schools in the UK and internationally. Before joining OIC, he was a House Master at Harrow International School, Bangkok, and previously held pastoral roles at Dwight London and North Bridge House Canonbury. He also spent a year in Kathmandu, where he taught and worked on a foodbank project supporting people experiencing homelessness – an experience that continues to shape his approach to education and community engagement.

Phil studied Physical Education BA (Hons) in Liverpool before completing a PGCE and MA at the University of Chester. Inspired by his own PE teacher – who combined high expectations on the sports field with kindness, encouragement, and approachability – Phil was motivated to pursue a career in education, aiming to balance ambition with empathy in his work with young people.

A strong advocate for mental health and wellbeing, Phil is passionate about creating environments where students feel supported and empowered. Beyond school life, he is a keen golfer and enjoys spending time with his young family.
