As the new academic year begins, the corridors of OICB once again fill with the energy of students arriving from over 30 countries. For some, this is a return to familiar routines; for others, it’s the start of a brand-new chapter. In Geography, we often ask: What makes a place meaningful? And just as importantly, how do we come to belong?

Our second ever cohort of GCSE students are celebrating their results today. This year, 50 percent of students were awarded grades 7, 8 or 9 or A*/A while 100 percent of students studying Chinese and PE achieved grades 8 or 9 and 30 percent of Biology students accomplished the top grade of 9. Of the GCSE students who studied English as a second language, 85 percent achieved grades 7 to 9.

This summer marked a milestone for us as our very first cohort of A Level students received their results.

As I sit down to reflect on our first year at Oxford International College (OIC) Brighton, I’m struck by how exhilarating and rewarding this journey has been.
